HISTORY

1967  Graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Architecture Degree

1973  Licensed as an Architect in the State of Texas

1974  Began professional career as an artist

1975  Owned and operated The Art Collection Gallery & Frame Shop, Dallas TX

1975  Special Award, Texas Fine Arts Association Show, Dallas TX

1976  Best of Show Award, Four State Classic Art Show, Texarkana TX

1977  Best Watercolor Award and Best of Show, Autumn Festival, Sedona AZ

1978  Moved to Sedona AZ, painting wildlife with prints being sold nationwide

1979  Admitted into the Society of Animal Artists

1981  Best Watercolor Award, Phippen Memorial Arts Show, Prescott AZ

1981  Exhibited at the Academy of Natural Science, Philadelphia, in the Society of Animal Artists Show

1981 Wildlife art included in an article in the May issue of Arizona Highways

magazine1982  Initiated work as a sculptor – first wildlife then figurative bronzes

1982  Feature article in January issue of Southwest Art magazine

1982  Inclusion in Harold and Peggy Samuels’ book, Contemporary Western Artists

1982  One of the featured artists in the 1982 World’s Fair, Knoxville TN

1983  Southwestern Bell Telephone Company featured his painting Born Free in a monthly publication

1984  Invitation to submit work to the White House for Easter. The piece is a painted wooden Easter egg which is now on display in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institute

1985  Commissioned to sculpt a larger-than-life statue of The Lost Sheep sculpture.

1987  Honored by the Valley of the Sun Church of Religious Science Phoenix AZ as the sculptor of the Church’s Letting Go bronze (their logo) on Letting Go Sunday.

1988  Color Cove Studio was created to produce, display and promote the artist’s work

1988  Ceramic production, including sculpting, mold making, glazing

2008  Architectural Renderings appearing in Sedona Monthly, Desert Living and Scene magazines

2009  Flight of the Windrider was accepted for publication by Science of the Soul Publications.

2009  Increased production in the area of fine art focusing on sculpture and book writing.

2010  Alice and Pastaland translated and published in Korean. 18,000 copies printed in English.

2011 Runner up in Sedona Arizona roundabout art competition.

2011 Designed and built a home and studio in Sedona, AZ, Pine Valley.

2011 Architectural illustration work expanded via the internet with work being done in New York, Chicago, New Orleans and Los Angeles.

2012  Alice and Pastaland to be translated and published in Chinese.

2013  Developed animation skills to expand Color Cove Studio’s architecturalrendering services.

2014  Winner of the Schnebly Hill Roundabut Art Competition.

2014  Presentation to OLLI pertaining to The Open Gate Roundabout Sculpture.

2015  The Open Gate sculpture was installed in the Schnebly Hill Road Roundabout.

2015  Work now showing at the Goldenstein Gallery, Sedona , Arizona.

2016  Retired from architectural rendering to work on sculpting and painting fulltime.

2016  Became an artist in residence at L’Auberge Resort, Sedona, Arizona

Color Cove Studio.

2018  A brief history of Sedona’s Open Gate sculpture and the philosophy of the art

included in the book, Year in Sedona, At Wisdoms Edge by Melanie Lee.

2018  The Wheel of life placed in Uptown Sedona, AZ adjacent to the Sedona Chamber of Commerce.
